Jack & Jill: 2 people, 1 product & the case for dynamic product pages

Why We Need Dynamic Product Pages

Although two shoppers may be looking for the same product, their needs and questions can be very different. We know that personalization helps you cater to the needs of different shopper journeys. To demonstrate this, let’s consider two shoppers who land on the same product page.

Jill’s & Jack’s Journeys

Jill, an intermediate skier, is looking to replace her old Salomon skis. She Googled “best new Salomon skis” and landed on the page for the “Salomon QST X Skis 2025” on evo.com.

Jack, on the other hand, is shopping for a present for his 21-year-old daughter who just started skiing. Jack doesn’t know that much about skis. He searched for “buy skis online” on Google, found evo, then navigated to the category page for “skis”. He clicked on the first product with a “best seller” label, which was the very same “Salomon QST X Skis 2025”.

Let’s start with Jill.

Jill needs a lot of information before she feels comfortable buying. Instead of searching throughout the entire product page, Jill sees the alby's AI shopping assistant, which anticipates several questions:

One of these questions is one Jill wants to know: “Can these skis be used for carving on groomed runs?” Once Jill gets her response and is satisfied, alby's Generative Q&A anticipates the next set of questions that Jill will likely have.

Ah, perfect! Jill wanted to know, “What’s the turn radius?” because her last set of skis didn’t offer the turning radius she needed as she has become a more advanced skier. So she clicks that button.

Now Jill is quite excited about these Salomon skis. But she is nervous that she maybe isn’t doing enough research and comparing to other skis out there. So then she asks a question of her own: “How does it compare to other intermediate skis with a short turning radius?

alby happily obliges:

After seeing the options, she now feels confident that these skis are a great choice and purchases them.

Jack’s Journey

Now let’s return to Jack, whose first question is totally different. He already clicked on the Salomon QST X because it was labeled a best seller, and he thinks his daughter has mentioned liking Salomons. Otherwise, he has no idea if these are a good fit for his daughter.

Jack sees the alby’s AI shopping assistant, and a very different suggested prompt catches his eye. “Help me pick a ski, I’m shopping for someone else.” He clicks it, and it brings him down a very unique journey:

Jack believes the suggested option would be a better fit for his daughter. He clicks it and buys.

The Key Takeaway: AI Personalization for Different Shoppers

Customers are different. Dynamic product pages, enhanced by AI product recommendations, support each customer’s individual journey, taking the frustration out of the shopping experience. With alby's Generative Q&A, both Jack and Jill can have a personalized shopping experience and feel confident that they are making the right purchasing decision.
